The North Cascades Highway is always spectacular, but only open during the summer months.  Come with us to see the beauty of the special section of Washington State.

Monday, October 17:  We travel north on I-5 through Portland, Oregon, Vancouver & Seattle, Washington to Arlington for our first night’s stay at one of our favorite hotels, the Hawthorn Inn.  The rooms are very spacious and the feature a fine complimentary breakfast the next morning.

Tuesday, October 18:  We travel north through Sedro Wooley and join the North Cascades Highway east bound through Concrete, Rockport, Marble Mount, passing Diablo Dam, the source for Seattle City Lights.  Then we head on over Washington Pass to the Western Town of Winthrop, WA.  The scenery along this route has been called the Alps of the Northwest.

Winthrop took on a Western theme a number of years ago and feature the façade with boardwalks, and old tyme looks to the buildings in town.

We spend the night at the Best Western Cascade Inn.  Dinner will be on your own in town.  Our hotel features a nice breakfast in the morning.

Wednesday, October 19:  We follow the Methow River through the valley to where the river joins the Columbia, continuing south to Chelan, WA for a two night stay at the Best Western Lakeside Lodge.  Rooms have balconies overlooking Lake Chelan.  They also feature a nice breakfast with the rooms.

Thursday, October 20:  We board the Lady of the Lake II for an all-day cruise up the lake to Stehekin and return.  A box lunch is included today.  You’ll also enjoy a bus trip to see Rainbow Falls from Stehekin.

Friday, October 21:  We continue south to Wenatchee, then follow the Wenatchee River west for a visit to Leavenworth before continuing up Tumwater Canyon, spectacular in its own right and then on over Steven’s Pass to the western side of the Cascades.  Our day ends at the LaQuinta Inn in Lynwood.

Saturday, October 22:  After enjoying a leisurely breakfast this morning, we travel back south through Seattle with time to stop at the Seattle Waterfront for a visit.  Lunch is included today at Historic Mary McCrank’s Restaurant near Chehalis, WA.  This could be the highlight of the day all by itself.
