Wednesday, Aug. 8: We head north along I-5 through Portland into Washington. After lunch we visit the Ferrie Gardens near Tumalo. This deceptively small garden encompasses several different themes including a fragrant garden, an alpine and dry garden-scape, a Celtic Rock Garden, pond, and an Old Medicinaland Medieval Paradise Garden. Home tonight is the Hawthorne Inn in Arlington which has an indoor pool and a lovely continental style breakfast in the morning. (D)
Thursday, August 9: We continue north through Bellingham, Wa. into British Columbia at Blaine, WA. Later we cross over to Vancouver Island on the B.C. Ferry to Swartz Bay. We stop for a visit to the Butterfly Gardens before checking-in for 3 nights at Embassy Inn located close to the inside harbor and next to the Parliament Building in Victoria. (B,D)
Friday, August 10: We start out this morning with a visit to the IMAX THEATER at the ROYAL B.C. MUSEUM. Featured is a film about the Ship Titanic. Afterwards we have tickets to the Museum exhibiting 281 artifacts recovered from Titanic's undersea resting place. A series of galleries trace the life of the "unsinkable" ship from its design and construction through to the discovery, recovery and conservation. You will immerse yourself in the passenger experience as you pass through authentically recreated first and third class corridors and cabins, an outdoor cafe and a boiler room. Later this afternoon, treat yourself to Afternoon Tea at the James Bay Teahouse. Still later, enjoy a carriage ride, all included in your tour p rice.< BR>(B, Tea)
Saturday, August 11: Enjoy a free morning and afternoon. Later this afternoon we head for the BUTCHART GARDENS for an evening visit. There may be a fireworks display this evening and a walk through the gardens when they light up the paths after dark. (B)
Sunday, August 12: We depart on an early ferry to Port Angeles, WA across the Straits of Juan de Fucca. Next we thrill to the beauty of the Olympic Mountains as we climb to the summit of Hurricane Ridge in Olympic National Park. Then we continue on through Sequim and follow the Hoods Canal southward on U.S. 101 to Shelton, Wa. where we spend the night at the Little Creek Hotel Casino Resort. We will have buffet dinner tickets when we check-in. Good Luck if you try to beat the odds. (B, D)
