May 19:  We head across the mid-section of Oregon through Sisters, Bend, Burns, Vale and into Idaho where we spend our first night at Shilo Suites in Nampa, ID.  (D)


May 20:  We continue through Idaho's state capitol, Boise.  We make a short visit to the Capitol Building before continuing through Mountain Home and Twin Falls. See the Snake River Gorge.  Then turn south across the border to Jackpot, NV. for a night at the Horse Shu Motel. (B)


May 21:  Continuing south we travel through Wells and on to Ely where we'll visit the Railroad Museum. Overnight at the Prospector Hotel.

 
May 22:  We turn eastward from here, making a stop at the Great Basin National Monument to explore Lehman Caves.  Our next stay is just outside Bryce Canyon National Park at Ruby's Inn. May 23: Thrill to the brilliant colors of Bryce Canyon in the morning, and later this afternoon, the wonders of Cedar Breaks National Monument.  Overnight in Cedar City, UT. at the B/W Elray Inn.(B)


May 24:  Today will be an awesome day as we explore Zion National Park.  This park puts you on the valley floor looking up where the other parks are generally looking down from above.  The park shuttle service is your mode of travel through the scenic drive.  Later we depart from the eastern side of the park in our own bus.  Overnight in Kanab, UT. at the Shilo Inn.  (D)


May 25:  We duck into Arizona long enough to visit the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park.  Later, we travel past the Vermilion Cliffs and across the Colorado River to Page, AZ. Two nights at Courtyard by Marriott.

 
May 26:  We cross into Glen Canyon National Recreation area for an all day cruise on Lake Powell to see Rainbow Bridge.  Lunch is included on the boat.  (B, L)


May 27:  Continue east along the northern part of Arizona to  Monument Valley. Enjoy a close-up look at the area from open air vehicles taking us into Monument Valley Tribal Park. Overnight back in Kayenta, AZ at the B/W Wetherill Inn. (B)


May 28: We back-track as we head north past Monument Valley  and back into Utah, exploring the southern sections of Canyonlands National Park.  Later we stop for a two night stay at Moab's Big Horn Lodge.  Tonight, a very special barbeque dinner and cruise followed by a cruise on the Colorado River with Canyonlands by Night..  Special effects include floodlights on the canyon walls as we cruise along the river. May 29: Today we tour Arches National Park with a local step-on guide.  Lunch is included at the end of our guided tour.  After lunch we visit Deadhorse Park.  From here we look down on the river and across the Canyonland vistas.


May 30: We head north and then west to visit Capitol Reef National Park.  We drive along the valley floor on this one and look up to the majestic formations that resemble Capitol buildings and monuments.  Our home for tonight is the B/W Shaheen Inn of Salina, UT.                    photos by Hazel Taylor


May 31:  Our adventure today takes us to see the Great Salt Lake and the Bonneville Salt Flats.  Overnight at the Rainbow Inn in Wendover, NV.

 
June 1: Heading toward home across Nevada,we stop for the night at Winners Hotel in Winnemucca, NV.


June 2: We continue our route, coming over the Pine Forest Range and over such picturesque passes as Buzzard Gap and Greaser Canyon on our way to Lakeview, OR.  Overnight at B/W Skyline Motel. (D)


June 3: Our final route home takes us west from Lakeview  following the Sprague River into Beatty and Chiloquin, then north to pickup the Willamette Pass.
