Thursday, May 17:  We head south on I-5 through southern Oregon and over the Siskiyou Mountains into California. 

Enjoy the scenery as we travel through to fruit lands of Medford.  Perhaps Mt Shasta will appear as we continue south, passing Lake Shasta and through Redding.  Later enjoy the Almond groves and rice fields.  Destination today: Best Western Granzella's Inn in Williams, CA. (D)


 Friday, May 18: We continue south to Vacaville, then turn west and south to the South San Francisco Bay.  We cross the bay on the Dumbarton Bridge.to visit the Filoli Center in Woodside, CA 

There w ill be a guided tour after lunch. Later, we check-in for 3 nights at Hampton Inn & Suites in Mountain View, CA. 

They feature 'On the House Hot Breakfast' each morning. 

We use this as our base for the

    "Sunset" Celebration Weekend

where you can visit their Idea House, attend cooking, planting, and decorating demonstrations by Sunset writers and editors.  (B)

 Monday, May 21:  We head for Santa Cruz, stopping in Palo Alto, we visit the

Elizabeth Gamble Gardens, a 2 1/2 acres property which includes a historic home. 

A volunteer docent will guide us around.  Home for 2 nights is the Best Western Santa Cruise Beach Inn. (B)


 Tuesday, May 22: Our route today takes us south along Monterey Bay

visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium and later, Carmel. (B)


 Wednesday, M ay 23: Heading north we visit Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco,

then cross the Golden Gate Bridge to spend the night at Best Western Garden Inn in Santa Rosa.  Dinner is included tonight. (B, D)


 Thursday, May 24: Enjoy the splendor of the Giant Redwoods as we travel through

The Avenue of Giants on our way to Eureka.  Accommodations tonight: Best Western Humbolt Bay Inn. (B, D)


  Friday, May 25:  We visit the Blue Ox Museum before continuing north through Jedediah Smith Redwoods and along the Smith River back into Oregon.  We overnight at the Holiday Inn Express in Grants Pass. (B, D)


 Saturday, May 26: On our way north we stop to visit the Applegate Museum in Sunny Valley before stopping for lunch time at Seven Feathers Casino in Canyonville, OR.  (B)
